Tartuffe is a famous comedy-drama written by Moliere.
Jankidas, a respected yet gullible family man, becomes blindly devoted to a self-proclaimed godman named Gopinath. Impressed by Gopinath's fake spirituality and outward humility, Jankidas invites him to live in his home and plans to marry his daughter, Shalu, to him, despite her being in love with Kamal Nayan.
Everyone in the household, including Jankidas's sharp-witted wife Chandra, his sensible brother-in-law Surajbhan, and the outspoken servant Radhe, sees through Gopinath's act and warns Jankidas. But he remains blind to their concerns. To expose Gopinath, Chandra cleverly arranges a situation where Gopinath tries to seduce her, unaware that Jankidas is watching. Jankidas finally realizes Gopinath's true nature.
But there's a twist - Jankidas had already handed over all his wealth and property to Gopinath in the name of religious service. Gopinath now tries to kick the family out. To know what happened at the end, please enjoy our comedy drama in Hindi, Tartuffe Ek Dhongi.
